NH Hoteles, after the acquisition of the Dutch chain, Krasnapolsky in July 2000
and the German hotel chain, Astron Hotels in February 2002, is now Europe's third
ranking business hotel chain. NH Hoteles currently operates 239 hotels and 34,400
rooms in 16 countries in Europe, Latin America and Africa. The recent acquisition
of Astron Hotels, the third leading city hotel in Germany, has consolidated NH's
presence in Central Europe. In addition, NH Hoteles has currently 37 new projects
under construction that will add close to 6,300 new rooms.
Even though NH Hoteles portfolio was composed by several brands, the company
has decided to operate worldwide under one brand.
The Group also has a 20% stake in the Jolly Hotels chain (Italy, Amsterdam,
Brussels, Paris and New York) and has a 94% interest in Sotogrande, S.A., a
company that operates the most prestigious tourist resort in Spain's Costa
del Sol and which has, among other assets, a hotel, the NH Almenara Golf Hotel & Spa,
a 27-hole golf course and plots of land that can be developed.
NH Hoteles is listed in the Spanish stock markets since 1992 and is part of
the selective Ibex 35 index. It is also listed in the Amsterdam stock exchange
(Euronext) since September 2000. NH is part of the EuroStock 600 index that
includes the best listed European companies and trades in the ADR level 1 program
