Impression
The Radisson Sas is build between a row of apartment blocks. The hotel is actually one of those blocks and because of that the building looks a bit boring and normal. The front is on the other hand very inviting with its large glass wall. This makes a distinction from the other buildings and makes it clear this is a hotel.
reception
The entrance has got a small lobby with behind it the facilities as the bar and restaurant. An empty desk seems to welcome you sometimes. This means that either there isn’t enough staff or they are not quickly enough.
public areas
For those people who will come further then the lobby, which by the way is very clean and well kept, enters a spacious atrium where there are places to sit. Something is ‘missing’ in this place, it could be the atmosphere, which is a bit artificial. This can be caused by the age of the hotel; it’s only a few years old. The swimming pool is constantly guarded and is, because of this, been kept clean very well. The rooms can be reached very easily through the clean corridors and the quantity of elevators.
rooms
The rooms are, as many hotel rooms are, small but very clever furnitured. It’s a hotel of a big concern, so very special rooms should not be expected, but those rooms seem extra boring. It can be seen here that this is a very modern hotel, because the maintenance is very good. The only rooms that really stand out are the spacious suites.
halls
In the back of the hotel there is a big hall with its own kitchen. This hall can fit 200 people, but it isn’t very spacious and cosy. The lower hall can especially be used for conferences, but if you are planning a wedding party or some other party you’d better look further. The kitchen however is very clever. You or your caterer can easily prepare your own food there.
situation
The hotel is situated in the middle of the Jewish area in Antwerp. Opposite of the beautiful city park and in walking range of the police station. The shopping centre is a five-minute walk; central station is situated in the same range. The hotel is situated in a quiet neighbourhood; you’re not in the middle of bars and clubs. Those facilities can be reached by car and Antwerp is famous for its large amount of parking spots.
